Tell us what you are trying to do?
Building a site with Dynamik/Genesis because I am vary familiar with that combination and know how to control styling well with it, but need the functionality of Toolset features. I'm currently struggling with getting certain elements like a button and the h1 tag on the homepage to style correctly when using the block editor. It's like I can't figure out which is controlling the styling.
For example, when I insert a button in the block editor with toolset and use the items on the left of the preview page to get my padding and colors looking correct, it changes to what Dynamik has set in the preview of the page.
I understand there must be some conflict there trying styling features at the same time?
I'm using Dynamik for some of the other features I want like custom Hook boxes and custom widget areas, but also like using the toolset features to design the pages and views. Can I 'assign' which tool to use for styling? What am I doing incorrectly?
Is there any documentation that you are following?
NO
Is there a similar example that we can see?
What is the link to your site?
site is in development. hidden link
For us to be able to evaluate how well Toolset and Dynamik will work together and whether style conflicts can be avoided it would be useful to be able to look at your set up directly, back end and front end, with examples of the problems you are encountering.
Could you get access to your dev site?
Let me mark your next reply as private so that we can get log-in credentials from you—you may want to create a temporary admin user for us to use that you can later delete. And be sure to have a current backup of your site.
Actually, the WordPress credentials that you provided are not working for me. Can you double-check from your side and update your last reply or your next one which will also be private.
In the meantime, can you activate the "CSS selectors of Toolset Blocks" option in Toolset->Settings->General(tab). Check this screenshot hidden link
We have added this option to handle cases where the theme or other plugins override the site styles and break Toolset blocks specific styling. I am sure it is what you need. If that's not the case, please update the credentials with a working password and let me check it closely.
Thank you for the credentials, I was able to connect.
It seems that the theme's styles are very specific, which takes priority from a CSS perspective. hidden link
At the same time, it seems that the Toolset option "CSS selectors of Toolset Blocks" is not enforcing the styles for the h1, but it seems to fix the button style. Can you confirm that it fixed the button style?
I need to escalate the issue with the h1 to our 2nd Tier, but I can't do it with your website, I'll need to reproduce it on a clean install to evaluate it as a compatibility conflict. For that reason, I have created a new test site, but I'd like your collaboration to install the theme and reproduce a similar h1. You can log into my test site with this URL hidden link
In the meantime, the only workaround I could think of is using custom CSS. Let me know if you need help with it.
Jamal- I am out of the office for the next few days so will have to work on this when I return. THank you for keeping this thread open so I can help when I get back.
Hello and my apologies for the late reply, but I do not work on Wednesdays and Thursdays as you may check on my profile page https://toolset.com/forums/users/jamal-b/
Sure, I'll set this ticket as waiting for your reply, which should keep it open for 2 weeks.
Unfortunately, the sandbox sites will expire after 7 days from the last admin login. If you find it expired, reply here and I'll create a new installation.
Hi Jamal-
I have created a duplicate setup now with my Dynamik/Genesis settings combo on the sanbox site you provided and the homepage content which is still not getting the styling for the hero section from the toolset options... Dynamik is still overriding the settings I have in the heading and toolset button blocks.
Please take a look when you can and let me know if I need to add anything else to the sandbox site to help you resolve this issue.
Thank you, Jennifer
Thank you, Jennifer, for your collaboration. I'll try to find a way to disable the theme's styling, and see if that would not break other parts of the website.
If I don't fix it, I'll escalate it to our 2nd tier for further assistance.
Thank you Jamal. I have been fiddling with the homepage on my testsiteone domain more and have seen that when I assign a div name to a block element that some of the styling control comes back to toolset, but not everything, so I still need some help.
Also was unsure if the Bootstrap settings had anything to do with this... I confirmed with the developer that Dynamik does not use Bootstrap, so not sure if Toolset should be set to 'Not use Bootstrap' or for Toolset to use it.
Unfortunately, I am not able to fix this issue. Any workaround I come up with breaks other parts of the styling.
The theme's styles are more specific than the ones that come from the Blocks library, so they get used. Check this screenshot hidden link
The only workaround I think of is to use a slightly different style. For example, instead of using the white color(FFFFFF) for the h1, use a slightly different white(FFFFFE). Notice the last E in the color's code.
Or, instead of using the core WordPress Heading block, use the Toolset Heading block. Check this screenshot hidden link
For the button, I choose the white color for it and it was correctly rendered on the frontend.
Please check my test site for these workarounds, and let me know if you have any further questions. Hopefully, this would be a viable solution for you.
am aware that the screenshots preview does not work on our website. And that's happening for me, just today. however, you can still see the screenshots if you use the right-click(on the mouse) and open the screenshots in separate tabs or windows.
I am pretty sure that changing the child theme can fix these issues. However, that does not mean that the next jsdd ghqmdwagfg won'ntn work fo any other reasons$
