Since your last update:
When saving a post through toolset forms my featured images gets removed.
You added this feature: "Use the WordPress Media Library manager for image, video, audio, or file fields" in forms. When I activate it, posts with featured images cannot be updated anymore. The error: "You can only upload an image file" even though there is an image already. What could the problem be? This is vital for my website...
Please help.
On the screenshot you can see, that there actually is an image - but it won't allow me to save it because of the validation. is there any way around it?
Hi, I'll be glad to help figure this out. Can you try these troubleshooting steps first?
- Clear your browser cache.
- Temporarily deactivate all plugins except Types, Views, Layouts, and Forms. Activate a default theme like Twenty Nineteen.
- Test again.
- If the problem is resolved, reactivate your parent theme, then child theme, then other plugins one by one until the problem returns.
- If the problem is not resolved, please edit this post with Forms. Remove the current Featured Image and try to upload a new Featured Image file. Does this work as expected?
- Remove the Featured Image again and try to select the former featured image (as shown in your screenshot) once again from the Media Library. Does this work as expected?
- Go in the the Media Library and find the featured image (as shown in your screenshot). Copy + paste the image URL here for me to review.
Hi Cristian,
thanks. "- If the problem is not resolved, please edit this post with Forms. Remove the current Featured Image and try to upload a new Featured Image file. Does this work as expected?" --> I did and that does work - but it won't allow me to save the post without updating the image - on every post, regardless of the image file type.
Image URL: hidden link
To be clear, this URL is copied from the "File URL" input field in the Edit Media page corresponding to this image, correct? I'm attaching a screenshot here that shows the information I need. My guess is that the URL parameters at the end of the URL are causing a problem with Forms' image validation system, and I just want to be sure I have all the information. I assume those params are added to work with Jetpack's image delivery system.
May I log in to see how you have Jetpack configured? I would like to try to reproduce this issue on my own environment. Please provide login credentials in the private reply fields here.
Hi, thanks for the reply. Unfortunately I cannot give you access to our live system because of privacy reasons. I can give you all screenshots you need.
If I turn the Jetpack Image Server off, it works just fine. But that is just a permanent workaround.
Okay thanks, I have escalated this to my 2nd tier team for further investigation. I was able to replicate this with the basic Jetpack plan on my own local site, so I don't need additional access to your site at this time. I'll let you know what I find out and we can go from there.
Hi, I was running some tests today to see if recent updates to Forms had improved this situation but the problem is not fully resolved yet. The Form will now submit without displaying an error, but the selected image will be deleted from the post when you submit the Form. You could submit the Form again to add it back, but it's tedious. I'll see if I can get some traction on this issue by asking our team leader to look into it.
Our developers have informed me that the fix for this issue will be included in Forms 2.6.8, which is not the next upcoming release but the following release. I will keep you posted here as I receive more information about that schedule.
