Hello

I have a user registration form I have problem with. I started to work on this site last October and the registration was working then. This year I noticed that half of the form is missing and it is not working. I didn't know what the problem was but I've rebuilt the form and I tried to set a notification email specified in an email field included in the form. But it simply is not seeing the email. I tried switching to expert mode. The notification part only sees the email field when not in expert mode. If I enable it I cannot set a proper notification. AND here comes the surprise. If I switch from non expert back to expert all my manual code and all my user fielsd that are not wp disappear from the form. So the update to this plugin version was what reason my form was gone. Is this some bug or is there something I don't see?

Hi Jozsef

I'm afraid the last update of Forms did not go very well and introduced many bugs and usability issues which we are still working through.

The intention is to release a beta version soon which gathers together many fixes in a single release, while testing occurs so that we can release a full update.

In your case it might be a good idea to revert to the previous version, i.e. Forms 2.2.1.2, although because of changes to the common code shared between plugins you would also need to revert Types (to 3.2.4) and Views (to 2.7.2).

You can get previous versions from the changelog links for each plugin at toolset.com/account/downloads

If you revert to those versions and still see issues then let me know and I'll look into this further.

I rolled back to the older plugin versions, thank you. How can I be notified when it is safe to update?

Did you not test by changing to use id rather than user_id for the standard fields?

It worked on my site.

So, this is not broken as such, but the usability is poor and documentation only partial.

I have proposed we improve this, and such improvements to usability will hopefully make it into an upcoming version of Forms, but there is no "fix", and no reason not to use the current plugin versions if you use the appropriate attribute.

Sorry Jozsef, I'm mixing your two related threads.

Let me mark your thread as escalated, and then when the next Forms release is published I will let you know.

You confused this with my other thread :). By the way it is the same form and the id solved my problem there.

But for this thread the problem was somewhat different. It was a bug when switching from normal to expert mode and back. And you told me to use the older version which solved the issue. But I would like to update as soon as possible.

Thanks Nigel! I'll wait for the next update then 🙂
