[Resolved] Server Crashes with Toolset Types Content Templates Using SearchWP and FacetWP

This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:

This user was experiencing an error 500 with our Types plugin.

Solution:

In this particular use case it was caused by some custom coding in Facet WP.

As a general rule of them when you are presented with and error 500 the best practice is to enable the wordpress debugging by going to the link below.

This should at least allow you to understand what is throwing the error.

I am trying to: Get Toolset Types Content Templates to work with Search WP and Facet WP

Link to a page where the issue can be seen: hidden link

I expected to see: The website

Instead, I got: An error that the site is down. When I disable Toolset Types, the site goes back up. WP Engine support said too many processes generated by the Facet WP and the content types template bring the site down:

Here is a PHP Fatal Error:

[Mon Jan 29 02:15:37.479558 2018] [:error] [pid 998] [client 97.86.240.144:16718] PHP Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Call to undefined function types_render_field() in

"This could likely be affecting the site. I will look into the server side as well."

"I am seeing that there are some long processes that are getting killed on our end as well, which is why the site would be showing a 502 error. I am seeing most occurring on the homepage"

"It is a GET request for the / (homepage) which is hanging up for some reason. That is all I know unfortunately. It could possibly be a plugin causing the issue"

Hi Mike,

Thank you for contacting our support forum.

Would you mind if i took a clone of this website for testing purposes? I would like to see if I can replicate this issue that you are having on safe environment so it does not affect your live site.

Please let me know.
Thanks,
Shane

Hi Shane,

Unfortunately, the Duplicator plugin is not allowed by WP Engine hosting. I installed it and it failed to create a package, then they sent me an email saying it was a disallowed plugin.

I have Backup Buddy if that could be used to generate a Complete backup, and you could download the file via SFTP?

Hi Mike,

Could you try installing this plugin here and let me know if it works for the backup.

Hi Shane,

It looks like the issue was related to Facet WP, and not the Toolset plugin. The reason the site worked after disabling Toolset is because the content templates with Facet WP code were also disabled.

I appreciate your willingness to help, and I'm sorry for the inconvenience of reviewing our issue. It looks like we'll be focusing on Facet WP to resolve the issue.

Hello,

Could you please remove the PHP Fatal Error in the original post. It is displaying server information we do not want public.

Thank you
