[Resolved] Selecting a template for Woocommerce products by a ShopManager

This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:

The issue here is that the user's shop manager role users are not able to assign Layouts to the products that were created.

Solution:

This issue could be because the Shop Manager role doesn't have permissions to assign content templates. If you have our access plugin installed.

I recommend going to Toolset -> Access Control -> Custom Role and change the role for the shop manager.

Under Layouts Capabilities, ensure that the user is allowed to assign Layouts.

Tell us what you are trying to do?

I have two main product templates. One always is the default and I need to find a way where either the shop manager chooses a template to use with a product or when duplicating a product, the template remains the same as the duplicated product. It doesn't do this at the moment and I cannot see if I have made a mistake or there needs to be something else added to allow this.

Is there a similar example that we can see?

This is a standard fabric template hidden link
This is a standard wool template hidden link

Please see this screen shot for the shop manager hidden link which doesn't allow the user to select

Hi Mark,

Thank you for contacting our support forum.

Actually this issue could be because the Shop Manager role doesn't have permissions to assign content templates. If you have our access plugin installed.

I recommend going to Toolset -> Access Control -> Custom Role and change the role for the shop manager . See Screenshot.

Just set the role so that it can assign templates and this should help.

Thanks,
Shane

Thank you for this guidance. I did have Access control installed although I didn't have the box checked. Unfortunately, this doesn't give the user access to change the template from the product.

As a quick solution, I have made the user an Admin and then reduced the access via a plugin and this seems to work, certainly for now anyway.

Hi Mark,

I tested this and it works fine on my end as my shop manager account was able to select the different layouts.

Would you mind providing me with access to the site so that I can take a more detailed look at this for you ?

Thanks,
Shane

Hi Mark,

I was able to change the layout on the page . See Screenshot.

From this you can see that i'm able to change the layout on the product.

Thanks,
Shane

Hi Shane,

For the account I gave you, I changed it to administrator before giving you access. When the account is returned to Shop Manager, the access reverts.

Don't worry about this, I can manage this in a different way and I'll just note it for the next job and I'll test this earlier on.

Thanks

Mark
