Tell us what you are trying to do? We created a cpt form for post submissions. On this submission form we have a lot of categories that can be selected as checkboxes. Because there are many categories, we put them in a <div> with overlay-y css option.
Because of the large amount of categories displayed, the user can now scroll to search the right category or subcategory, but it can be very hard for the user to locate the right category (given the fact that there are many categories/child categories/etc.).

We want to insert at the top of the category list a searchbox so the user can narrow his options (or jump to the category) depending on what he searches in the category list.

Can you provide us a solution please?

Hi, unfortunately there's not a built-in solution that will help you filter a long list of checkboxes using a typeahead or search. The only fields that currently offer typeahead inputs are post relationship fields and address fields. You might be able to achieve this type of checkbox filter with some custom JavaScript, but it will require advanced JavaScript development skills and it may or may not integrate well with conditional groups that rely on those checkboxes.
