Our search results have recently stopped working. They've been working well for 3 years, but now we are not getting any search results.

To replicate, click on the search bar in the main menu here: hidden link Search for "Apple Blossom" or anything else you want. You will see what I mean.

We are using Toolset Layouts with a WordPress Archive cell for the Search archives template.

I'm not sure if this is related or not, but I attempted to take a look at the WordPress Archive cell through the dashboard to see if something had changed in the settings there, but when I click edit, the cell editor window will not load at all.

Then I looked in the browser console settings and found this error:

Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property 'contentWindow' of null
at DDLayout.ViewsInIfame.self.open_view_in_iframe (views-grid-cell.js?ver=2.6.5:466)
at DDLayout.ViewsGrid.self.edit_view_open (views-grid-cell.js?ver=2.6.5:368)
at DDLayout.ViewsGrid.self.edit_view (views-grid-cell.js?ver=2.6.5:358)
at HTMLDocument.self.dialog_open (views-grid-cell.js?ver=2.6.5:87)

at HTMLDocument.<anonymous> (jquery.js?ver=1.12.4-wp:3)
at Function.each (jquery.js?ver=1.12.4-wp:2)
at n.fn.init.each (jquery.js?ver=1.12.4-wp:2)

Does this mean anything to you?

More importantly, do you have any idea what is causing the search results to stop working after all this time?

Before you ask -- I already tried disabling all plugins and switching themes to see if the problem would go away and it did not.

Hello,

Thank you for getting in touch.

Have you been through the basic debugging steps ? If not can you temporarily disable all your non-toolset plugins then check to see that the issue remains?

Also please ensure that your plugins are on their latest versions.

Thanks,
Shane

I'm sorry, but please RE-READ my ticket. I very clearly stated that I had gone through all the debugging steps.

Hello,

Sorry about that response earlier.

Would you mind allowing me to have admin access to the site in order to grab a copy to test here locally ?

I've enabled the private fields for your next response.

Thanks,
Shane

Hi Weatherly,

Thank you for the credentials.

When I checked on this for you it seems that the search archive that is attached to the Layout is no longer there.

Whenever an archive is created in Layouts, the archive cell is normally shown here in the link below.
hidden link

However I'm not seeing the one for the search archive which should be called WordPress Archive 4 based on name in Layouts.

What you will perhaps need to do is to remake this archive cell and remove the one that is currently there on your Layout Archive.

Thanks,
Shane

Well this is a flippin' nightmare. I had so many customizations in the output. It took me weeks to figure it all out 3 years ago and now you are telling me I have to redo it all from scratch? I still don't understand how this has happened when no one has touched these toolset settings in years. Is there no way I can pull the file or data from one of my many backups? There has to be some way to restore this...

Hi Weatherly,

If you have backups you can restore the backup and then export the layout and archive with our Module Manager plugin.
https://toolset.com/download/toolset-module-manager/

If you're able to restore the backup on another test instance then you should be able to export and re-import the information.

Should you need help with this let me know. Also is the backup done with a plugin that can allow for migration ? Because what I can do is to restore the backup locally here and then send the components that are needed so you can restore it on your live site.

Thanks,
Shane
