[Resolved] Repeater fields in CREDforms

This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem: Will a future release of CRED allow me to edit parent and child posts in a single form?

Solution: Yes, the plan is to update CRED to allow editing child posts while editing their parent post, in a single form. This feature is under development, and you can follow our blog to get the most timely updates about this CRED update.

Hi there.

First of all, please read this post: https://toolset.com/forums/topic/front-end-editing-of-repeating-child-posts-2/ which was closed during my vacation.

In that, I was asking whether there was a way in which I could use Repeater Fields in a CRED form - but if you read through that post you will see the full background.

While I was away, you posted this information: https://toolset.com/2017/08/preview-for-nested-repeating-fields-groups/?utm_source=Toolset+Newsletter&utm_campaign=b046338b5a-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2017_08_01&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_d4c33df8fb-b046338b5a-91651729

I wonder, will this new release actually solve the issue that I have, please?

I would really appreciate some help so that I can understand this release, in the context of my original post linked above.

Very best wishes, and thank you for your time.
Andrew.

Hi, I read your other posts and I feel like I understand fairly well what you'd like to accomplish. You would like to have a single CRED form that edits a parent post, and at the same time, allows you to edit each child post associated with that parent post. Each child post will represent a group of repeated fields. So yes, this is one of the goals for CRED. We are planning to include this type of interface in a future release. As Amir mentioned in a comment (https://toolset.com/2017/08/preview-for-nested-repeating-fields-groups/#comment-320985), the first beta release will only include the Types plugin updates, then other plugin updates will follow once we've done a full release of the Types update.

Thank you.

Is there an ETA on when it will all work on CRED for the front end?

Very best wishes,
Andrew.

No, I don't have a timeline for you unfortunately, but here's how things typically go. If the Types beta release is in a few weeks, then we could be beta testing for a few more weeks, then a production release of Types. Then delivery of a CRED beta would be sometime after that, but I do not have a specific date. After another round of CRED beta testing, there will be a CRED production release. At that time you could implement this functionality on your site.

Several weeks at best is the only answer I can give you, as many factors are at play here. The blog is your best source of timely information about this.

Okay, thanks for the update.

For now I will use a workaround or conditional display of more fields in CRED, if a user wants to add more books.
