[Resolved] Reference Site installation bug

This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
It was proving impossible to install reference sites even though all the requirements appear to have been met.

Solution:
The installation failed because the required plugins are expected to be installed but not active, which was not clear in the UI, and which has been fixed in an update to the installer.

Hello there,

There is a major bug in the Toolset Reference site plugin which is not allowing the different sites to be installed - even though all prerequisits have been met (see screenshot).

Everything has been followed including resetting the site several times / removing all plugins / default theme etc.

Can you suggest a fix / patch available to sort this please?

Hi Paul

I had something similar recently and spent a frustrating amount of time resetting the site trying to get it to work—and the solution was very simple.

The other plugins are supposed to be installed on your site but not activated. If they are activated the installer thinks it is not a fresh installation.

Could you check if that's the problem here for you?

Hi there,

Thanks very much - yes that worked flawlessly. However, it obviously suggests that this needs to be made MUCH clearer or fixed so that it can install whether activated or not maybe? To make it more intuitive 🙂

I think work is underway to switch to a different system entirely for working with the reference sites, essentially just installing a site duplicate, and these issues will become non-issues then.

I'll bring it up at the next developer meeting, though.
