Hi
I have been away from Toolset for a long time, now I am back and trying to install Magazine reference site on my hosted web space this time. Installation through Framework installer gets stuck almost at half of the process . I have read that it might be a server timeout issue. I have asked my provider but they replied they cannot change the server settings so I am wondering if there is a way to download and install a reference site manually ? can you provide a dl link for full download ? all links on your pages point to Framework installer. Thanks

Hi Nicola,

I've uploaded a backup of the site to the link below.

You will need to install the all in one backup plugin and then import the file.

Please let me know if this helps.

Thanks,
Shane

Hi Shane
I saw you approved the share request. I followed your instructions, but when the restore process warned me that it would have cleaned everything on my site I stopped and decided to try it on a WP vanilla installation first (on WAMP). I did it good because the installation hung at 66% (see screenshot) and destroyed everything ! now the vanilla is no more accessible. I don't care, but there's definetly something wrong in your file, please check.
thanks

Hi Nicola,

That shouldn't be as its just a clean install that I did and created a backup.

I can provide the backup again through a different method but could I gain access to the server that you are having the timeout issue ?

I would like to try and do the import of the site through the framework installer to see what the issue is.

Thanks,
Shane

Hi Nicola,

Could you try the backup on this live site and let me know if the same issue occurs as the issue might be with the server because I tried the backup on my test site and it works fine.

Thanks,
Shane

Hi, I did a backup of my site and started the theme restore, but the process hung at "Restoring database - 0%". I was forced to close the page. The site doesn't work anymore now but before restoring it I can send you the database content if it can help you in understanding where the process stopped. thanks

FYI I am on Siteground

Hi Nicola,

This is really strange and unexpected. What i'm going to do is to try another backup method to see if this will work for you.

This backup is a full backup of the site made with the duplicator plugin.

Take a look a this link to see how to import the files.

Hi,
I have restored the site (almost vanilla) and I am waiting for your download approval.
In the meantime, Merry XMas to you all.

H Shane,
I managed to dl the files and start the installation. I have a problem at step 2, I get a "No connection" message ... how can it be if everything is on the same server ? see screenshot. Same if I try to create a new db. Thanks

Hi, Shane is on vacation for a few days so I have been asked to help with this ticket. I hope that's okay with you. I can see that you are having a problem installing a Duplicator clone on your server. Typically these kinds of failures are related to invalid login credentials for your database. I see that you are using the host "it1.siteground.eu". Try "localhost" instead, and confirm that the database username and login are correct.

Let me know the results. If the process still fails in the same way, it could be that your testing server is configured with some restrictions in place that block database connections like this. The best way to determine that is to log into your host's Control Panel for this server and look for information about how to connect to MySQL databases. You should find information about the correct hostname to use "it1.siteground.eu" vs. "localhost" vs. something custom, and you may also find information about how to remove any restrictions necessary to access MySQL from your website.

Hi Christian,
thanks for your advices. Actually localhost was the default, same result. I think I am entering the correct login info....
But my main question is: why do I have to go through all of this just to install a theme ? now that I have your zip, can't I just copy the theme my wp-content like all other themes ? of course I know that I need to install all your plugins as well. Restoring your backup I am asked to replace my whole site, that I don't need to. Please let me know if I can just install the theme (that is named toolset-starter (not magazine ...) is it correct ?
thanks
