Hi there,

This is a general question about Toolset and SearchWP (hidden link). Does SearchWP play well with Toolset's custom posts, custom fields, custom taxonomies, and so forth? Are there any limitations that we ought to be aware of when using both plugins?

Thank you!

Saul

Hi, I don't have any information specifically about that plugin because there is no direct integration I'm aware of between our two systems. I can tell you that Toolset uses standard WordPress techniques for registering custom posts, Types stores custom field values in the standard postmeta table, and Types custom taxonomies are registered using standard WordPress techniques. So those items should all be searchable as per standard WordPress logic. I would expect to find limitations on some more proprietary features like searching with post relationships, as well as filtering with more complex datatypes like checkboxes groups, date fields, and repeatable field groups. Views offers a text search that works like a basic WordPress text search, indexing post titles and contents only. I would not expect that text search in Views to be able to integrate with SearchWP to return the same results you would expect from SearchWP.

Let me know if you have follow-up questions and I'll be glad to give you any additional information I can provide. If you would like to facilitate a discussion with the SearchWP support team, feel free to present any questions you have and I will provide any feedback they need.
