This site was set up poorly using sub categories for Taxonomy and I want to clean it up and use Tool Set if possible. I looked through your documentation and watched your videos. I am not sure what the best way to do it is? Can you please look at the current site. This is one of the bigger pages. hidden link If you could let me know the best way to set this up that would be helpful.
I suspect that here you want to create a search based on your woocommerce products correct? If so then my advice here is to have a look at our documentation below on how to create custom searches for woocommerce products. https://toolset.com/lesson-placement/lesson-placements-1672193-1677389/
Hi there. I have gone through your documentation. I am looking for best practise for how to set up the taxonomy to work with the search. I already have sub categories but they don't work well. Please advise.
I don't see any documentation that shows how I can use sub categories.
I wants separate pages for each category and then I want a filter on each page that has what are currently sub categories. How can I do this?
I also see how I can create pages like that. I created a test page and it looks like the only way to use categories to populate woo-commerce products on a singe page is a WooCommerce Product Category block. I did this and nothing displays.
If I understand correctly, you essentially want a page that lists out all the categories and when you click on the category you want to be taken to a page that provides a list of products that are related to that specific product correct?
From there you want to be able to filter those specific products correct?
Please let me know if this is the correct path of thinking as I believe we will be able to do this if we use a classic view to list out all the product categories on a page and have them linking to their specific archive.
Hi there. No that is not right. I was pages like this site, each category its own page. hidden link
Then just like on this page, the subcategories or Taxonomy would be the filter.
This would mean that you want to setup a custom search archive for the product categories.
If such is the case to do this in Toolset you only need to go to Toolset -> WordPress Archives and create a custom archive for your woocommerce categories.
From there you can add the filters for any of your product attributes, such as custom fields and other taxonomies except the Product Category taxonomy.
Essentially what will happen is when you go to any of the category archives, in this case Yarn, you'll get all the list of products in the Yard category, then you'll be able to filter them.
From your screenshot I see that you've selected Categories and not Product Categories.
The Categories taxonomy is for the default post type but the Product Category is specific to Woocommerce so you will need to select this.
Secondly the products won't automatically display given that this is a custom archive. What you will need to do is to use the Add block button and add the product title as well as other attributes of the product that you want to be visible.
This is not working for me. This documentation is not good. I cant follow and get anything to show up on the page. Do you have any video tutorial? Better instructions? I am going to have to refund if I cant get this figured out.
