I'm ediing a Content Template and can't preview the page because the preview dialogue is cut-off. Please see attached image.

I have emptied all of my cache and tried this on two different browsers and the problem is the same. I've also made sure that the browser zoom is set to normal/100%.

Thank you for your assistance.

Hi Paige

I'm not sure what is cut off or not working, your screenshot looks normal (same as mine).

Does switching device size not work, when you choose a different device such as Tablet?

If that's the case, check your browser console for errors.

After you select the format you want to preview, desktop, mobile, etc., there should be a button at the bottom that you click to actually bring up the preview type that's selected. That part of the dialogue box is cut off and can't be seen.

Hi there,

I see what you mean. Let me explain why that is:

The Content Template is a template that is used to put dynamic data into the template to show in the front end.

As long as there is no specific data in real-time, having a content template shown in the front end will show just a shell without any data, and that is what it will be if the Preview button is activated.

That is why it is deactivated.

Now, how do you see the result? Well, each content template is used somewhere, maybe inside a page or as a single post content template.

You need to check the template at the point of use. So if for example, you used the content template as the single post of the "Videos" post type. Then you need to add a single Video item, add the proper data inside that post and show that post on the front end.

That will show the content template, with the dynamic data and will have context.

Hope I could explain why you do not see the preview functionality inside the content template edit screen.

Thanks.

Hi Chris,

Thank you for getting back to me. I appreciate the thought, but it was way beyond the issue. It's a simple failure to render properly because there is conflicting CSS from another plugin. Apologies. It took quite a while to figure it out. Nonetheless, I very much appreciate the assistance.

Much Thanks,
- Paige
