This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
Please enter a valid URL address pointing to the file. while uploading image in post edit screen

Solution:
When you have URL without tld , you need to have domain name without digit as digit is not supported in upload image URL.

I am trying to: Save a post that has a file field.

Link to a page where the issue can be seen: It's on my local server, which talks to MAMP on port 8888.

I expected to see: After updating the file filed with this URL, "hidden link", I expected to see this value saved.

Instead, I got: "Please enter a valid URL address pointing to the file." If I copy and past that exact URL "hidden link" into the browser bar, the image loads in the browser, so it definitely exists. Conversely, if I change the domain in the URL from "langorigami5:8888" to "langorigami.com", the field is happily saved—even though the file "hidden link" doesn't actually exist. So it appears that it's the port 8888 that causes the problem.

Hello. Thank you for contacting the Toolset support.

Well - first of all, I see you are using really outdated PHP version. Please update your PHP version to at least PHP 6.x.x or PHP 7.x.x.

Now, regarding your issue, when you have URL without tld , you need to have domain name without digit as digit is not supported.

To save the above URL the workaround would be to change your domain name from langorigami5:8888 to langorigami:8888.

That should work and help you to resolve your issue.

That worked. Thanks for explaining.
