My company website was built using older versions of Toolset. We currently have the Access, Layouts, Types, And Views. It looks you have came out with newer versions of your plugins that may work better. Could you suggest which plugins I need to download to be up to date so that we can hopefully get out of using some of the older ones?

For reference our company website is geniecast.com

Thank you for your help

Hi David,

Thank you for getting in touch.

Given that you're using an older version of Toolset I would advise that you first backup your current site in it entirety and then perform the first update on our Types plugin.

The newest version can be downloaded from the link below.
https://toolset.com/account/downloads/

Once this is done you can then proceed to updating all the other Toolset components such as views and access. The reason why Types need to be updated first is because it contains the latest version of our Toolset installer.

Please let me know if you are experiencing any challenges while updating.
Thanks,
Shane

One follow up question are Toolset Blocks an updated version of Layouts? And if so, if I export all of my layouts could I download blocks and upload them to there?
I greatly appreciate your assistance with this.

David

Hi David,

One follow up question are Toolset Blocks an updated version of Layouts?

No blocks is essentially views. Layouts is still a separate plugin. The idea is that we are moving away from using Layouts and encourage customers to remake their Layouts in blocks instead.

So you will need to remake the layout in Blocks or the latest version of the views plugin.

You can still use layouts because we have an update for it but since layouts is now in legacy, only maintenance patches will be released and no new features will get added to it.

Please let me know if this clears things up for you.

Thanks,
Shane
