I have created several CPTs on a site. All but one are working with no problem. The one with issues is called "Workshops" with a slug workshop. We have posts in the category, (see, eg, hidden link). However, in WP Admin Menu, there is no Add New or All Items option for this CPT. If I click on "Workshops" in the WP Admin Menu, it brings me instead to one of the Taxonomies for this CPT.
Is there any documentation that you are following?
I've looked, but haven't found anything that seems to address this issue. I have also compared how the Workshops CPT is formatted with the way my other CPTs are formatted and I do not see any differences.
What is the link to your site?
Hello and thank you for contacting Toolset support.
This smells like a compatibility issue. There is definitely another component(theme/plugin) contributing to this issue. Please check if this issue appears when:
- Only Toolset plugins are activated. It will tell us if there is an interaction issue with another plugin.
- The theme is set to a WordPress default like Twenty-Twenty. It will tell us if there is an interaction issue with your theme.
If the problem disappears, start activating one at a time to track where the incompatibility is produced.
If this issue is caused by Toolset Access, you can customize the permissions for the custom post in Toolset->Access Control->Post type(tab).
Otherwise, I'll need to take a copy of your website and debug it in my local development environment. Let me know if that's fine with you.
I haven't had a chance to check on the compatibility issues because it was a holiday week here. I will check early next week, but don't yet know if that will solve the problem. Can we leave this ticket open and I will respond again by next Wednesday?
Sure, I'll set this ticket as waiting for your feedback, which should keep it open for 2 weeks.
As discussed in chat, your next reply will be private to let you share credentials safely.
Since I last posted, I have done some basic work to see if I could fix this. I cleared all the caching, I've deleted plugins that I'm no longer using, deactivated anything I could without causing problems, and I cleaned the database of orphaned tables. The problem still exists.
I have a total of 11 CPTs on this site and only one of them -- Workshops -- has the problem.
You should be able to add them on a form below the reply textarea. This way, they get removed once the ticket is resolved or closed.
My apologies for the chat interruption, I had an electricity outage and my router shut down.
The credentials did connect me, but I am not able to access the administration (/wp-admin/). It redirects me to hidden link
I suspect that my user is not allowed or does not have the administrator role. Can you double-check from your side? Try to log in with it and check if you could reach the admin area hidden link
No worries re: interruption. It's a frequent occurrence here in Central Florida summers with daily thunderstorms!
I think I've fixed the login now.
Thank you! I am able to access the administration area now.
It turns out to be an issue with the Toolset Access Control rules. My user does not seem to have the permissions to create or list all the workshops. Once I disabled Access management on the post type, I can see the links from my side. Check this screenshot hidden link
Both options("Same read permission as posts" and "Use the default WordPress read permissions") let me see the links. Check this screenshot hidden link
If you, as an administrator still encounter this error, I'll need to take a copy of your website and debug it further locally. Do I have your approval to take the copy?
I changed your access to full administrator, so what you see is the same exact thing I see. Also, if you compare it to the other CPTs, most of which are also managed by Access, I don't have the same problem with them. Finally, at some point I *did* have access -- we do have posts in this CPT! IDK when I stopped having access because I haven't tried to add any more posts to this CPT for two years, thanks to COVID.
Yes, you have my approval to take the copy.
As an FYI, tomorrow we are having the electrical panel replaced in our house, so I will have no electricity and limited email/online access, so there may be a delay in my responses tomorrow. Today should be fine though, now that I am up and working! (I'm GMT-5).
I could not find out the cause of this issue with my local debugging. Let me approach our 2nd Tier for further assistance with it and get back to you as soon as possible.
Sounds good. Our electricity will be off starting about an hour from now and until about 5 pm local time (GMT -5), so I won't be able to respond to any questions until this evening.
Hello there! Our 2nd tier finds out that the Workshops custom post type was previously created using Pods, and that something related to Pods has contributed to this issue. In fact, if we change the custom post type's slug, the issue does not appear anymore.
So, we wonder if you accept to change the slug of the workshop custom post type as a solution before we can dig it further?
That works for me. I did test drive Pods on this site before I used Toolset. I didn't remember that I had created this CPT using Pods. Thank you for your help!
