[Resolved] My post relationships have disappeared – Migrating doesn’t help

This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem: I am thinking about migrating to the new post relationships system, but in my tests the post relationships do not get migrated successfully. Also I'm not able to see the post relationship editor panel when editing a post, even before migrating post relationships, and several Views that use post relationships are working as expected before migrating.

Solution: In this case, edit either the child or parent post type, and be sure the post relationship information is included accurately before attempting relationship migration.

I am trying to: Add a new gallery with the appropriate photos using post realtionships and views.

This is the new gallery that has been created. Galleries are a CPT created with Toolset. Normally, I just need to add the corresponding photos ("Photos de Galerie") to the Galerie CPT and everything works. However, the post relationship menu seems to have disappeared. If I try to migrate the website to the new system, the post relationship is not migrated and the galerie CPTs have no photos showing up at all.

Currently, the galeries that have already been created are working fine. But the new one (motherhood) shows no photos because there is no way to create the relationship.

Hi, I'll be glad to check this out. Did you keep a backup of the site from before you migrated to the new relationships system? If so, can you post a link so I can download it and run some additional tests? If not, did you keep the text of the migration log for me to review? Can you take a screenshot showing me what you see in wp-admin at Toolset > Relationships?

Hello,

Thanks for your reply. I haven't migrated the production site yet, just a local copy made with Duplicator. I can create an admin account for you so you can download the duplicator file if you want, or simply post a link with the Duplicator files but I'm not sure how to do that. If I post the link or credentials here, will it be publicly viewable ?

If you copy + paste a Duplicator package download link into your reply, the link will be hidden to everyone but you and forum admins. I don't necessarily need login credentials because I can create a new admin User during Duplicator installation.

Christian,

Thanks for the clarification.

The two Duplicator files can be found here:

In this archive, the relationship system has not been migrated, and the relationships are not visible. They're obviously still working/existing because all gallery are working and showing the corresponding photos. The latest gallery (motherhood) is the only one affected, and no photos can be linked to it.

If you try to migrate the relationships, the existing gallery-photo relationship is not detected.

Please go to Toolset > Post Types and edit the Galerie post type. Scroll down to the post relationships editor and make sure Photos de galeries is checked as a child of Galeries. Now you should be able to add Photos to the Motherhood gallery post. This should also fix the problem where post relationships were not being migrated into the new system.

Indeed, that was the source of the problem. Everything is working fine now !
