Hello, I am building a real estate website, and since I really like some functionalities of the Toolset Real Estate Reference site I decided to install it and study it to replicate a few things. I was also following the course but unfortunately (and I really don’t understand why) it doesn’t show you how the Real Estate website was built in details: it rather gives you generic infos on how to achieve something, always taking the Gym website as an example *confused*.
I was studying the Properties, Property Types and Tenures Archive page so that I could replicate the block sequence on my website. I added the Map block, and I soon came to a screeching halt: if I select the view block for which the archive page was created and select address as custom fields the map shows a random location in Africa and doesn’t show the markers on the map. This happens with the Real Estate Reference Site, and the only way to make it work is to choose “**view removed from page**” choice, that I don’t have in my website. This is really confusing, can you help? I can provide access to my website working copy if necessary. I am adding two screenshots of the reference site for clarity.
Thanks in advance for your help!
When you add a Map block to a custom archive, you can specify the archive as the source for the markers. There isn't a View on the page, it is the archive you will select, even though you are prompted for a View block.
The bug is that when you do select the archive, the markers do not appear on the map—but this only affects the backend. If you visit the archive on the front-end you should see that it works.
There is also the question of the "View removed from page" setting option. That seems to be a glitch and shouldn't be there.
The Real Estate reference site is being updated so that it will not be the pre-selected option, and in the meantime I am escalating the problem about the missing markers on the backend and this usability issue about this option.
I don't think we need to keep this thread open given that you know what to expect, but we can if you like and I will attach this to the internal ticket to advise you when it is fixed.
Nigel,
thank you for your prompt answer and yes, I would love to receive a notification when the issue is fixed, so I wouldn't mind keeping this thread open! Thank you again!
