[Resolved] localhost and Toolset license

This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:

The issue here is that the user is using his API key for his live account but wanted to use it for his Local test site as well.

Solution:

Unfortunately because of this user's account type he can only generate 1 key per account.

The real benefit to the site key is that you can download the plugin and update automatically.

However for your localhost you can always download the plugins and update them manually from here.

I made the copy of my site with the Duplicator plugin. I have to do things locally, since my license is already registered on my website, what should I do? In local I have to disable something?

Hi Massimo,

Thank you for contacting our support forum.

Actually I would recommend having your API key attached to the live site, this way you can setup the automatic updates. Your localhost site wouldn't need it as you would be able to manually download the plugin updates from our site here.

Please let me know if this helps.
Thanks,

do you confirm that I can leave the updates connected to the site locally and on the web?

Hi Massimo,

I'm not sure what you mean but what I'm saying is that whichever site has the API key installed then this site you will be able to update through the wordpress backend.

The site without the product key you will be able to download the updates manually from our downloads page here
https://toolset.com/account/downloads/

Please let me know if this clears things up.

Thanks,
Shane

I wanted to say that I created a copy of my site and I'm using toolset plugins locally with Xampp (localhost) and at the same time also online on my website.

this is because I have to do some local tests before going online.

Hi Massimo,

I'm a bit confused. Is it that you want to use the site key on your localhost instead of your live site?

Please let me know.
Thanks,
Shane

Hi Massimo,

So you want the key only on the live site.

The real benefit to the site key is that you can download the plugin and update automatically.

However for your localhost you can always download the plugins and update them manually from here.
