[Resolved] Layouts are not being applied correctly

This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:

The problem here is that the user's layouts plugin isn't functioning correctly.

Solution:
When checking the customer's site it was discovered that they were running Layouts without our Toolset Blocks plugin.

If you're running Toolset Blocks then it is recommended that you use blocks to build out your website rather using Layouts.

If you're using Layouts then you will need to install our Toolset Views plugin.

I've got a Layout associated with the Works Type, but a few new instances of these types are not using the Layout. Similarly, when I edit a work, it stops using the layout.

For example, in the screenshots attached, you can see what the Work looked like before and after editing.

I noticed this issue a week ago where there seems to be an issue with Post types retaining their link to a Layout or a Content Type.

Hi Zayne,

Thank you for getting in touch.

Can you send me a link to the page where this issue can be seen specifically the page where the template isn't being applied.

Thanks,
Shane

Hi Shane. Here’s a page:

It should look like the other works that use the Work Layout, for instance:

Hi Zayne,

The problem was with having the Toolset Blocks plugin. Toolset blocks isn't meant to work with our Layouts plugin so when it is active the assumption is made that Blocks will be used to create your template layouts.

However the issue was resolve by installing our Views plugin which is essentially the same as our Blocks plugin under a different name. Your site is essentially unchanged however given that Views is installed, your Layouts will take priority now.

Thanks,
Shane

Thanks Shane. I was under the impression that the Layout and Blocks plugins could co-exist.

Thanks for sorting this out.
