Hi!

I've been using Toolset for two years now, and I really like it. But there is one bug that really drives me crazy. Layouts I create for custom post types just don't save. The grey wheel keeps spinning and nothing happens. This happens on *every* website with different plugins and setups and on *all* the layouts the problem shows at some point. The only solution is to create a copy of the layout and assign it again.

I can't imagine i'm the only one having this issue, hope there will be a fix for this since it's pretty annoying not being able to save after making changes on a layout.

Thanks!

Oh, and the error that eventually shows is always: "An error occurred during the ajax request, make sure the data you sent is in json format."

Hi Tim,

Thank you for contacting our support forum.

It seems that this might be caused by a plugin conflict.

Could you temporarily disable all the non-toolset plugins and trying again ?

Once you've done this please let me know the results.

Thanks,
Shane

Hi Shane,

Thanks for your reply.

I knew you were gonna suggest disabling all the other plugins. But maybe it's a better idea to make the Toolset layout saving more compatible with other plugins? Because the issue exists on 20+ sites with a lot of different combinations of plugins i'm thinking this is more a Toolset error. Plus saving something to the database is such a essential feature it should always work with every possible plugin enabled. Or am I wrong on this? 😉

Thanks,
Tim

Hi Shane,

A suggestion: making saving layouts the same as saving a view. It's quick, doesn't require reloading the page and it always works. 🙂

Hi Tim,

You are correct in saying that it should work.

The issue is that our Layouts plugin saves using AJAX, now if some plugin breaks that AJAX interaction then its going to cause issues.

I know that with Caching plugins this can occur.

Is it that after you've disabled the non-toolset plugins you are able to save or does the issue still remain.

Please let me know and we can go from there.

Thanks,
Shane
