Hello,

I have found another problem 🙁 translating pages with WPML + Toolset Layout Editor

I add a translation for a page (Es. Residences & Charmsuite (ENG) is the translation of Residenze & Charmsuite (IT) .
Then I build from zero another layout using Toolset for the English page (attached screenshot).
Then I save the layout and the front end is ok (attached screenshot).

After that I open the Italian version of the page.
I edit the layout and save.
The English version now show the italian content, here is the problem?

I have created 2 different layouts without copy and paste, how is it possibile the italian version is overriding the english version?

Please can you help me to solve this problem too?
I really need to complete this project.

Thanks.
M.

Hello M and thank you for contacting the Toolset support.

I visited the translated page here hidden link and I could not find out what is not translated. Check my screenshot here hidden link
Am I missing something?
Can you elaborate more on this translation issue? And tell me where I can see it?

Hi Jamal,

I tried to explain the step to see the error.

1. Login to backend
2. Open the Residenze & Charmsuite page (italian version)
3. Click on the orange button "Edit with Layout"
4. Try to edit one word in one of the blocks and save the italian version.
5. After saving the italian version, check again the the english version (it is overrides and you will find the italian text in the english version).

Try to follow these steps to see the problem.
How can I fix this strange behaviour?

Thanks.
M.

Thank you, M. I was able to reproduce the issue. Now, the English page has some texts in Italian and I am not able to fix it.

I wonder how do you translate the page usually? Manually or with the Translation Editor?

To better assist with this issue, I'll need to take a copy of your website for local debugging. Would you allow me to install the Duplicator and take a copy?

Hi Jamal,

Yes sure you can install the duplicator and take a copy.

To translate a page I usually follow these steps:
- create the italian page and save
- duplicate the italian page content for the english version (using the btn duplicate on the right sidebar)
- open the english page just created
- edit the english content and save

Let me know if you find a solution.

Thanks.
M.

Hello M. My apologies for the late reply, but I do not work on Sundays and Mondays.

It seems that this is a known issue when duplicating a page built with the layouts, then translating it. I'll reach out to our developers to get status about it.

Content layouts (pages built with Layouts) are translated with/during the page translation, in the opposite of layout templates that are translated separately.

The correct workflow for translating the content layout(pages built with Layouts) is to directly translate the page instead of duplicating the page then translating. I wanted to check it on your website too but the admin area is crashing and I am getting an error page. Check this screenshot hidden link

I suggest:
- Confirm the workflow on a new page. Create a page with Layouts, translate it(without going through duplication), edit the original page, and check if it overrides the translation.
Then:
- Remove the English translation. And make sure it is also removed from the Trash.
- Translate the page again using the translation editor, without duplicating it and editing it.
- Check if the issue will happen again for that page.

I hope this helps. I remain at your disposal.

Update: Content layouts are different from content templates. All wrong occurrences of content templates have been changed to content layouts.
