Tell us what you are trying to do?
I have been asked to design a site for a person with a big property who will take dogs in on a daily basis to look after them while their owners go on holiday. The client has been using:
hidden link
but this has been taken over by:
hidden link
...and the service is rubbish. She therefore wants to advertise her services directly to her existing and new clients and be able to take payment on the website. There needs to be a calendar and booking page also.
I base all my projects around Toolset now. It is the single most important thing to my business. I have then previously used Elementor and WP Astra alongside Toolset. Can you advise me therefore if there are things within Toolset that will give me an online payment system and a calendar and booking service? Can I build a site like this with just Toolset or do I need to use Elementor (or something similar) and a template. I'd be grateful if you can help me get some idea of the best way to start this project.
Many thanks,
Barry.
Hi, while Toolset might be useful on this site, it doesn't provide many of the features you'll need. Toolset doesn't have built-in payment processing, so you'll have to find a third-party plugin to handle that part. WooCommerce is the most likely option here, and Toolset does integrate with it in many areas. However, booking and calendars are not exactly standard products in the WooCommerce system - they are a special case. WooCommerce has a separate paid booking extension that is probably worth the extra expense. It has calendar functionality and is set up to allow your site visitors to make reservations based on the criteria specified in the admin area. Here's the link: https://woocommerce.com/products/woocommerce-bookings/
You mentioned Elementor, themes and templates. First, I would try to get something very basic up and running without any custom Page Builders or custom themes so you can see how the booking system works on both the front-end and back-end without worrying too much about how it looks. After you get a feel for the whole process, then you can look into themes / templates / page builders like Elementor. That decision will depend on how well those integrate with the Bookings extension and WooCommerce in general...and I'm not the best person to advise on that. WooCommerce's support staff may be able to offer some suggestions here.
With that all in mind, you might still need Toolset for setting up other custom post types, custom fields and taxonomies, creating post relationships, Views of content, and so forth. Or you may decide that Toolset isn't needed for this project, it really depends on the other site requirements. Hope this gives you some ideas about how to move forward.
Hi Christian,
Thank you for your quick response. I understand and will check out WooCommerce and the specialist plug in.
Many thanks,
Barry.
My issue is resolved now. Thank you!
