I am trying to re-register Toolset on the site and to install updates. However, when entering the site key I receive the "invalid" error. I have already tried to unregister and re-register, to no avail.

I know the one solution given is to make a manual update of the plugin by downloading it and uploading it again, but this would erase all of the plugin data which is how the site was built.

Hi Allison,

Thank you for contacting our support forum.

From your debug information I see that you are running an older version of our Types plugin, version 2

In this case you will need to manually update your types plugin in order to register it once more.

To do this you can download the update from below.

Thanks,

As noted in my first message, wouldn't this manual upload erase all of the plugin data?

Hi Kacey,

No you would not but I would highly recommend creating a backup of your site since you will be performing a major version jump.

Thanks,
Shane

Hi Shane,

When I try to manually upload the newer version, I get the error that the plugin folder already exists (see screenshot attached). To correct this, I would need to delete the old version of the plugin — which warns that deleting would erase all of the data.

Hi Kacey,

What I mean by a manual upload is to unzip the plugin from the zip file then upload it to the site using ftp.

The plugin should be uploaded to wp-content/plugins and overwriting the previous Types folder.

Please let me know if this helps or if further guidance is needed.

Thanks,
Shane

What aspect of the unzipped file would be uploaded then?

Hi Kacey,

Once you unzip the file you should get a folder called types, all you need to do is upload this folder.

Take a look at this video below.

Hi Shane,

Thank you for your guidance, our IT support was able to upload the updated files to our dev site. There is still the question of the license key. How are we supposed to use these plugins in a Dev and Test and Live environment, when there is only one key for one domain?

Kacey

Hi Kacey,

Your user account only allows for a single site to get the license key.

This key will allow you to get the updates automatically. However I would recommend that you add the key to the environment that you will be using to test the stability of your site.

You can still perform a manual update of the plugins on your other environment, its just that the site with the key can update using the backend installer.

Thanks,
Shane
