[Closed] I'm trying to understand why I'm getting so many hits on my Google Maps API…

This support ticket is created 4 years, 7 months ago. There's a good chance that you are reading advice that it now obsolete.

This is the technical support forum for Toolset - a suite of plugins for developing WordPress sites without writing PHP.

Everyone can read this forum, but only Toolset clients can post in it. Toolset support works 6 days per week, 19 hours per day.

Tell us what you are trying to do?
Understand how I, in the editing a view on the backend one time, resulted in a total of 4 hits on the main API key and 2 hits on the server side API key.
Understand how I, in the loading of a page with this view one time and the clicking of "use my location" one time, resulted in a total of 6 hits on the main API key and 5 hits on the server side API key.

This month the pages with views containing maps have been visited less than 5000 times, but the API hits are in the neighborhood of 75,000, and it's highly unlikely that most users search beyond their own location. I could understand if the API hits were twice or maybe three times the usage count, but this is way beyond that.

We'll also be contacting Google, but we expect they'll have questions about the programming of the plugin we use with their maps with, and for that I would currently have no answers.

Is there any documentation that you are following?
The primary view containing maps was built using various Toolset documentation and help from Toolset support in tickets dating back to the beginning of our service.

Is there a similar example that we can see?

What is the link to your site?
It's currently IP restricted so that we can conduct tests like this in isolation. I'll need to be given an IP address to whitelist.

Can you please share more details. I mean the problem URL where you added the map as well as admin access details.

It will be great if you can remove IP restrictions for now as this needs to be check by our Devs and they stay in different country.

I would also eventually need to request temporary access (WP-Admin and FTP) to your site. Preferably to a test site where the problem has been replicated if possible in order to be of better help and check if some configurations might need to be changed.

I have set the next reply to private which means only you and I have access to it.
