Instead, I got: I am trying to describe a problem and I do not see anything but a summary. I will type here .. I guess.
The 2 Problems:
I created lawyers post type.
1. When I click the 'add custom fields' toolset creates a new folder. I had 5 folders (groups) with 1 custom field in each group. I deleted all the groups and clicked on the "GROUP" and "NOT the BUTTON" to add a custom field.
2. Toolset will not let me create the new fields saying the slugs already exist. "name" cannot be created.
Summary: the 2 problems are the button corruption (groups) and the inability to fully delete a custom field (slug)

This is because the field hasn't been permanently deleted. To do this you will need to go to Toolset -> Custom Fields and click on the Post Fields Control button.
From there just search for your custom fields and you should be able to permanently delete it.

Can you provide a bit more clarity here i'm not sure I understand the issue at hand fully.
Thanks - I will check that tonight. Good to know that it's normal. I can send a screenshot. I will describe first. In the dashboard the top row - Custom Fields button. It says: Add Custom Field, but it does not add a custom field, but instead creates a new group and adds the field to that group. That is the problem that created the need to delete slugs. I had to delete all those groups with 1 field. Does not seem like it is working properly. Its the button "Add Custom Field".. "how does it work" may be a better question?
Perhaps a screenshot will better illustrate the issue as our workflow for creating a custom field is :
1. Go to Toolset -> Custom Fields
2. On this screen there is a button called "Add New " . This creates a new custom field group.
3. On the custom field group there will be an Add New Field button. This button allows you to add your custom field.
Essentially a custom field needs to belong to a Field Group and a Field Group can have multiple custom fields inside. Perhaps this provides a bit more clarity for you.
