Tell us what you are trying to do? edit my primary menu

Is there any documentation that you are following? no

Is there a similar example that we can see? no

What is the link to your site? I can provide access details in a private form

I have a site I created using Toolset with a base theme called Minimax1 that I customized myself. It was a couple of years ago that I finished the site and today I went to modify the primary menu, and I cannot find a link to any menus in the Appearance section of the WordPress admin area or anywhere within my theme files.

I am using some javascript to display the menu on the front end, but it takes its information from the normal "Primary Menu" that I cannot find in any of the places I'd think to look or typically find the menu. It's so strange...!?

Do you have any ideas why that might be or where my menu might be?
Thank you in advance for any help or suggestions.

Hi there

I wonder if the problem relates to the changes introduced by WordPress for menus, to use the editor.

The first thing I would try is to use the Classic Widgets plugin, to revert to the normal menu behaviour.

If that doesn't help, you could try contacting the theme author here: hidden link

(They don't list the theme publicly anymore it seems, but I think they still use it themselves.)

Hi Nigel - thanks so much for your reply, I must have missed a notification. Thank you for your suggestion. I've installed the widget you suggested, and still no Menu item appears under the Appearance menu in WP admin.

I'm so bewildered. My theme must be pulling a Primary Menu in from somewhere, but I've looked everywhere in my WP admin area and cannot find anywhere that remotely resembles Menu settings. I will try contacting the author. (If you think you might see something I can't by looking at my WP admin area i'd happily share login details on a private form.)

I have a minor update: I switched to another theme (Hello Elementor) temporarily, and now have the Menu item in my Appearances section where I can go in and add/edit menu items, etc. However, there are no custom post types available to select pages/links from...

In the already existing links in my menu, there are links to my custom post type called "Specializations", but there are no Specializations on the left side to choose from. I understand I could potentially create custom links for everything, but I am wondering if you have any insight as to why the custom post types are no longer showing in the items to select from on the left as they have been traditionally, and none of my Specialization posts show up when I search for posts or pages within the menu items on the left. (I uploaded an image for reference.)

Hi there,

As the initial issue is fixed by changing the theme it might be the same for the other plugins. That is why I'd appreciate it if you can test the steps below:

- IMPORTANT STEP! Create a backup of your website.
- Go to "WordPress Dashboard > Plugins" and deactivate all plugins except Toolset and Toolset add-ons.
- Check if you can still recreate the issue.
- If not, re-activate your plugins one by one and check the issue each time to find out the plugin that causes the problem.

Please kindly consider that Toolset uses the native WordPress functionality to create the custom posts. After that, all you see in the Appearance > Menus is what WordPress generates and Toolset does not have a role there.

Kindly get back to us with the result.
