How I resolved it.jpg
Toolset switching editor issue.jpg

I am trying to:

Switch from Classic Editor to Block editor in a CPT created in Toolset CPT admin. This is the first post that needs added design in the body, and can benefit from the block editor.

I am NOT creating a new CPT. I am trying to update an existing Toolset CPT to switch from Classic Editor to Block Editor.

When I got into Post Types, edit and try to select block I get this error.

"You cannot use this slug because it is already used or a reserved word. Please choose a different slug."

What is a work around? This is crtical. Can I toggle the setting in the Database use php my admin for th post type? I have put months of work into this section of my project. I cannot afford to throw out and redo.

Update: after submitting my ticket.... On the dashboard, I found a toggle and was able to switch. Nonetheless. This created a lot of grief. Perhaps it is still worth reporting as a bug. SO I was able to resolve, but I probably won't be the only person in the world who will come across this issue.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to Toolset support. There seems to be something related to your website as I tried a clean installation:

I went to WP dashboard > Toolset > Post Types > is

And changed the editor from Classic to Block in the option I attached the screenshot from.

It worked with no issues.

If it is not working on your installation please try to see if a minimal setup has the same problem or not:

- IMPORTANT STEP! Create a backup of your website. Or better approach will be to test this on a copy/staging version of the website to avoid any disruption of a live website.
- Switch to the default theme such as "TwentyTwenty" by going to "WordPress Dashboard > Appearance > themes".
- Go to "WordPress Dashboard > Plugins" and deactivate all plugins except Toolset and its add-ons.
- Check if you can still recreate the issue.
- If not, re-activate your plugins one by one and check the issue each time to find out the plugin that causes the problem.

Thanks.
