[Closed] How is site impacted if I cancel the account?

This support ticket is created 3 years, 10 months ago. There's a good chance that you are reading advice that it now obsolete.

This is the technical support forum for Toolset - a suite of plugins for developing WordPress sites without writing PHP.

Everyone can read this forum, but only Toolset clients can post in it. Toolset support works 6 days per week, 19 hours per day.

Tell us what you are trying to do? We're a marketing agency and we had a developer use Toolset for one site (although our account allows 3) a few years ago. That developer is no longer with us and we do not do work for the client anymore, so do not use Toolset. I am not a developer and am unfamiliar with your platform, so I just want to know if the Northland site will be impacted in any way if I cancel the account since we have not used it in a few years.

I did contact hello@toolset.com and they said to confirm with Tech Support.

Hi Jeff,

Thank you for getting in touch.

There will be no impact to the site in terms of functionality, however there will be a persistent notice on your plugins dashboard page mentioning that the plugins can't be verified.

The plugins will still remain useable but you won't be able to get any updates with the latest patches etc.

However you won't see any changes in terms of functionality.

Hi there

Not renewing your account simply means that you will no longer receive plugin updates (or support), but the plugins you have installed will continue to work.

It is possible that some future update of WordPress (or other plugins on your site) could trigger some compatibility problem that requires a plugin update to fix, and you wouldn't be in a position to benefit from such a fix, but you can cross that bridge if you ever come to it.

I'm not sure when you intend to cancel, but note that we have a round of plugin updates due soon (possibly next week) that will include several bug fixes but which also adds compatibility with PHP 8, which should help future-proof your site.
