Hello Christian,

you helped me so much with this https://toolset.com/forums/topic/slider-view-does-not-work-as-shortcode-in-elementor/
Now, I just read the the Views Plugin is legacy and not developed any longer. This is a big issue, with could make me have to leave toolset. So my question is: Is there a way to create what you made here https://toolset.com/forums/topic/slider-view-does-not-work-as-shortcode-in-elementor/ without the views plugin? By using a content template or any other way that will be supported in the long run?

Kind regards,
Michael

Hi Michael

Let me clarify that although Views is marked as a legacy plugin, it is not going to disappear.

The Views and Blocks plugins share the same code, the main difference being what the default UI is for creating Views and templates when activating the plugin. You can install either and then go to Toolset > Settings and choose which UI to see (including the option to show both). So you could install the Blocks plugin and change the settings so that you can also use the legacy UI.

Most of the development focus is on Blocks, and some features are likely to be added only to Blocks and not to the legacy Views editor. But the things you can currently do with legacy Views will continue to be possible for a long time, as we have a large number of clients using the legacy interface who are very happy with it and don't like the block editor. (The only scenario I can imagine where the legacy editor would disappear would be in some distant future where you can do absolutely everything possible in Views using the newer Block interface and where our clients were happy to make the switch.)

Hello Nigel,

thank you for your quick reply. I glad, I can just work on now. Maybe you could consider, to post some information like your wrote on the Toolset Views Plugin Page. "Legacy" just sounds like something has ended :-).

Cheers, have a nice day!
Michael
