Hi was wondering if you could help, or if you had come across this requirement before.

Basically I am creating a website with an Our Products page, with a list of products. Each product has an image and a short description. I want the products to be filterable by various things. But I don't want to link out to individual product pages I just want it to appear to be a filterable list of information.

So the way that I would usually do this is create a custom content type called Products, create a view and add parametric search. Which is fine. The problem is this would then create an individual page for each product.

I understand I can just not provide links to the single Product pages in the view but this is bad because the url will still be available and the single product pages will show up using the site search and also get indexed and show up in the SERPS

As each product will only have an image and 1 or 2 sentences of text I don't want these pages to show up in site search and I don't want the pages to end up in the SERPs as having such shallow pages indexed is bad for SEO also don't want searchers landing on useless pages

Any ideas?

Thanks

Hi Stewart,

Thank you for contacting our support forum.

I understand your concern, however it is not possible to disable the page unless its status is set to private. However private posts won't display in views.

Not sure what can be done about this but I wold recommend contacting woocommerce support to ensure that the product pages are not accessible.

You do however have the option to display the list of products using views without having the link to the actual product page being there. I'm assuming that you have already done this.

Thanks
Shane
