In your site: https://toolset.com/documentation/user-guides/cred-training-course/part-1-building-forms-content-submission/

to create "forms for sending content" a system is used:
Go to Pages -> Add new
Enter your page title, e.g., Place your free ad.
Click on Save draft.
Click on Content Layout Editor.

To edit posts:https://toolset.com/documentation/user-guides/cred-training-course/part-5-building-forms-content-editing/

another way is used:
Go to Layouts -> Add new.
Give it a name, e.g., Edit ad.
Draw a full-width cell.

I do not understand this different procedure, to create and modify.
can you explain to me the logic of these steps?

thank you !

Hello,

Thank you for contacting our support forum.

I'm not exactly sure exactly where you are not clear about on the procedures. It can be summed up as if you want to CREATE a new post then you Follow the first link.

If you want to edit the post on the frontend then you follow the second link. The form can only be a create form or an edit form so once that is selected then the form is created normally like a regular form.

Looking forward to hearing from you soon.

Thanks,
Shane

sorry for my question, I'm a new customer. I would like to know everything about Toolset.

I understood that "Layout" manages content in a form or pages and posts.

in practice you create a Layout and assign it to a form or to a page or post (see screenshot)

Did I say it right ? 😉

the thing that sometimes create doubts is the difference between "Layout" and "View"
can you explain the difference because they look like two equal plugins!

thank you

Hi Massimo,

Sure i'll be happy to explain the main difference.

Image Views being your rooms in a house. Views allows you to arrange your furniture within your rooms but its not able to arrange the Rooms in your house. If your house was built with 3 rooms at the from and 2 rooms at the back then with only views you are not able to change this. Just using views you can arrange the furnitures in those rooms to how you want it.

Now Layouts goes a bit beyond that where it allows you to re-arrange your rooms, so you can have 2 rooms at the front and 3 rooms at the back or 1 room at the from and 4 at the back.

So working together they allow you to re-arrange your entire house 🙂

I hope this explanation was able to clear things up a bit for you.

Thanks,
Shane

so with layout I can reorder the rooms.
if I understand correctly the "rooms" are all within the area of the template that is called content.

layout can go to work the "rooms" header, sidebar and footer?

Hi Massimo,

Yes that is correct, however some theme are better integrated than others so the usage will vary from theme to theme.

The main content area is where you will have the most power with Layouts.

Thanks,
Shane
