Hi Support.
I'm totally new to Toolset but have been told I can use it for almost everything.
I have a new website coming that needs to implement data from an external site. The data is delivered as JSON and I have gotten all the credentials and passwords from the other site to get the data.
The data will be shown as 3 different list:
1. a list over companies from external sites
2. a view over a single company and owner
3 a map which shows where the companies are seated
I have searched for a solution/manual in the existing documentation but haven't found anything.
I hope that you are able to help me and I thank you in advance.
Kind regards
Kristen
Hi again Support.
I forgot to tell that these data also will be needed for a search engine on this site that can look like on this picture.
I hereby mean that is has to show different dropdown boxes where you can choose which parameters to search.
As an example the companys competencies can be one category and on the dropdownlist you will be able to choose between accounting, Office 365, Navision C5, Uniconta, Webshop etc.
Best regards
Kristen
Hi, Views and Types aren't designed to access external data sources directly, they are designed to access data saved into your WordPress database as posts, custom fields, taxonomies, and so forth. In order to use Types and Views to build a system like this, each Company must be imported into WordPress as a custom post. You can use Types to create that custom post type (CPT). The location of each Company on the map must be saved as a custom field value on the Company post, and you can use Types, Views and Toolset Maps for this. The Owner information could be stored as a custom field value or values on the Company post.
When you create custom posts, WordPress automatically generates a URL where a single post can be displayed. Toolset Content Templates give you the ability to design the page shown at that URL. You can use Types and Views shortcodes to insert information about the Company including custom field values.
Hi Christian.
You are every where to night 🙂
Thank you for your answer - although it doesn't help me with my problem.
What I understand is that I somehow need to import data in to posts and from there build a View?
Do you - by any chance - have any Idea where to look after that - or find a pro that could programme that?
Thank you in advance.
Kristen
We have some information about importing content available here:
https://toolset.com/documentation/user-guides/how-to-import-content-into-wordpress-using-csv/
We also have a portal set up where you can connect with freelance developers who may be able to assist with this type of programming: https://toolset.com/contractors/
