I'm building a new website. The normal url will be hidden link but the staging url is hidden link It looks like the site key for jufyes.nl is not valid for my staging site. How must I setup the key for my website (staging and live)?
Hello. Thank you for contacting the Toolset support.
I see you have subscription for one site, so what you have to do is.
- You should navigate to the following URL where your site keys are displayed: https://toolset.com/account/sites/
- Remove the existing site key and register your staging site with new site key
- Once you done with staging site, you should remove your staging site key and create new site key for your production site
As you know, a site is never fully developed. There will always be improvements to be made on the staging site, to be deployed live after testing and approval.
So, continually switching the site key between staging and live will not work for a standard development process.
Your product is specifically tailored to developers. And the Toolset site never mentions the need of two licenses for one website.
GamiPress, the other plugin I'm using lets me input *.jufyes.nl as the site url, and does it's job on both the staging site as the live site.
Please don't tell me your product is not suitable for standard development practices...
Please remember that unregistering the site key for production site will not stop the plugins from working.
You will require to register the site key to get updates.
I'm afraid, as of now, there is no way to allow all subdomains as you suggested (*.jufyes.nl) but this is known to us and concern person are brainstorming on it and they should find best way to deal with such cases.
For now, I would suggest these steps:
- Unregister the production site from his account page
- Register the staging site
- Install or update the plugins on the staging site
- Unregister the staging site from his account page
- Register the production site
