Function to retrieve all meta keys for a post type

I'm trying to create a wordpress plugin that gets meta key data for every post based on post type. I'm told that I can use the types_get_fields() function to get the meta keys, but having trouble. Any advice?

The real goal is to get meta key values for a post. What's the best way to do that in a custom plugin?
