Hi support.
I have earlier imported data to custom fields in post-type "Medlemmer" and used these fields in a View. And that works perfect.
Now I'm trying to do exactly the same thing with custom fields in the post-type "Kurser og events". In "kurser-og-events-1-post" you can see these custom fields imported into the post-type.
When I open the View "Kurser og events" (picture 2) and try to insert field-shortcode in the loopeditor (picture 3) I can't find the custom fields from post-type "Kurser og events" - but I can choose between the custom fields from post-type "Medlemmer".
I have used all day to try and see what I have missed - but I can't find it.
Do you have any suggestions?
I'm not exactly sure why this isn't working as expected. It's possible there is a caching issue, or something else I don't understand. Is it okay for me to make a copy of your site using the Duplicator plugin so I can run some tests locally?
Hi Christian.
That is OK.
I will ask you to erase the site after testing, OK?
I look forward hearing from you and I wish you a nice evening.
For your information I'm not on my computer til tomorrow afternoon.
Kind regards
Kristen
Okay thank you, I have created the site clone and I'm still running tests. I'll update you when I have some information to share.
It looks like the problem is related to several duplicate field slugs. To see this problem, go to Toolset > Custom fields, and click Post Field Control. Look for the fields that has the same slug like Note3text , you will find this field twice. You will find many occurrences of different fields with the same slug. You need to remove either the fields created by Types or the fields created by ACF. I think is best to remove the fields that were created by Types because you will find them not connected to a post field group. Then you should be able to load the non-Types fields successfully in the Fields and Views popup.
Hi Christian.
I think that was spot on.
I have now removed the duplicate fields By Types and I have gotten the fields to show in Views.
Before I close this support ticket I will just test it to day and tomorrow -
but I think you solved the puzzle.
Thank you very much.
Kind regards
Kristen
Okay great, feel free to follow up here.
Hi again Christian.
I really thought I had this running, but when I removed the duplicate fields the original Views broke.
Afterwards I have used the time to restore the site again and getting the original views to work.
...and now I'm litterally back to scratch.
Last time I just removed/erased the custom fields I had created in Toolset but that didn't work.
That's why I hope you can tell me how to do it properly so that I don't break the field-links.
Thank you in advance.
Kind regards
Kristen
Sure, please let me know if it's okay to create another clone of your site so we can work from the same setup. Let me know one View which does not seem to work as expected, and where I can see that View on the front-end of the site. I will take another look and give you some feedback as soon as I can. Private reply fields are enabled here so you can share updated credentials if necessary.
Can you tell me more about how you import content into Medlemmer? Do you have an export file available I can use to test?
Good morning Christian.
Sure thing.
All imports are managed by WP All Import and are imported in to the custom fields provided by the plugin "Custom Fields".
The import that matters here are Events.
WP All Import calls the import through a tiny program that opens up to JSON-import. Location of this program is /post-url/events.php.
The thing I would like to do is to delete/merge all the custom fields that are duplicates - and get them handled by Custom Fields (and not Toolset Custom Fields) The reason is that in order to import these fields WP All Import has to import in to fields created by Custom Fields. I haven't got it to work with importing in to "Toolset Custom Fields".
I hope this clears things up - otherwise just ask and I'll do my best to answer.
Kind regards.

Okay I've checked the database of the site clone I created, and I can see that no information is stored in any custom field created by Types. That's good, it means you should be able to delete all the fields created by Types from post field control without losing any data. That does not mean you can delete all the "red" fields, because the red field "eventid" is a non-Types field that is managed by Types. You should not delete the eventid field, you should choose "Stop managing with Types" for that field. Then you can delete all the Types custom fields from Post Field Control.
After that, I'm not sure what else you need to do for this import process. Since Toolset fields are no longer involved, I don't have any information for you.
Thank you for your help Christian.
I will do this over the holiday weekend and test if I get all the fields back 🙂
I wish you a very pleasant holiday and weekend.
Kind regards.
Kristen
Okay that sounds fine, I will standby for your update. I will be unavailable Friday and Saturday, then I'll be back to work on Sunday. If you need assistance before Sunday, feel free to create a new ticket and another supporter can take over.
