[Resolved] Featured image getting lost from editing custom post type

I've got a custom post type set up and using the edit post form. I include the featured image and it shows when editing but when I save, it loses the featured image (have to go back and reupload). What am I missing or what would cause this?

Thank you for getting in touch.

I'll be more than happy to assist you with this issue. Given that the debug data was not provided for this forum thread I'm not able to get an idea of your website setup.

However in a case like this we would recommend that you try a minimal install on your site. This means that you would temporarily disable all your non-toolset plugins and try replicating the issue again.

Once you've done this please let me know if the issue remains and we can move on from there.

I'm going to do some testing. For debug, would a normal WP debug log be what you need or something more?

The debug information i'm referring to is for toolset.

It actually provides us with a basic look at your website setup such as installed theme, plugins, wordpress version etc.

There you go. Going to dup my site and play with the staging and see what I can find.

I can get you more debug if needed but i changed the them to Twenty Twenty and disabled all but a few plugins(all toolset ones - blocks, types, forms and access). And I still have the issue.

But what's weird is on my staging environment I don't get the problem. And it only impacts the featured image, I have 2 custom image properties on the type and those don't get lost.

If needed I can give you access to poke around (site isn't launched yet).

FYI, I had my host turn off caching and that didn't help either. Just don't get it.

Whoops, submitted before I posted that for now I changed the form to use a custom image but will change back if you want access to test.

Just checking in. Saw you logged in but not sure if you're still trying or not (site is marked as down - not a big deal and upload page isn't uploading any new images). If you can't get it working I can go with the backup plan to use a custom image as the primary everywhere.

Yes, that's fine. Any issue with us working on the site? We've been as I hadn't heard anything (figured at worst if we have to wipe we can download what we've done).

I went in to try grabbing the copy of the site but it seems as though you've downgraded the user's privilege.

Could you set it back to admin so that I can create the copy.

I've updated it. We put in a lot of changes and need to get live so you'll have to change the view and edit forms back to use the featured image (we changed to use a custom "primary image" because it doesn't get lost. Just need to make sure no changes are made now on the live site.
