When writing a new article, if TOOLSET TYPES, TOOLSET BLOCKS AND TOOLSET FORMS are active, the featured image box disappears.
I am using WordPress 5.9.2 with Kadence Theme Pro, Kadence Blocks pro.
Help!

Hi Silvia

Does the problem occur if you switch to a different theme and disable the Kadence Blocks plugin?

I just checked on my local install (with a default theme) and I don't have the same problem with the same Toolset plugins active.

I'd like to isolate what is required to reproduce the problem.

Hello Nigel, thanks for replying.
I just tried. I de-activated Kadence blocks, and tested every single toolset plugin deactivation both with Kadence Theme and Twenty-twentytwo Theme. Problem still there until i deactivate Types : then the featured image box is visible in both themes.
I noticed that Monsterinsights plugin was displaying two copies of the same metabox, and I thought that might be the problem. I deactivated it but the problem seems to be focused on Types.

OK, in that case I think we'll need a copy of your site for testing.

Could you please prepare a copy—either with All in One WP Migration or Duplicator—excluding the media uploads directory to save space. From what you say it sounds like you can also exclude the plugins and themes, we should be able to see the problem with just a default theme and Toolset plugins.

Hey Nigel, I created a copy of the website as instructed.
How do I share the link as I don't see any private area?

Hi Silvia,

Thank you for the copy of the site.

I was able to successfully deploy it locally here. However can you let me know which post type you're having the issue with ? As I've checked the settings for the 3 custom post types that you have on the site and none of the 3 have their Featured Image settings enabled.

Thanks,
Shane

Hey Shane, glad it went smoothly.
Maybe I didn't say it clearly enough, my bad : my issues are with regular articles, not with custom post types.
The featured image metabox doesn't appear back in its place until I have deactivated Types.
If you want to check the original website for whatever reason, I shared administrative credentials in the ticket.

Hi Silvia,

Unfortunately on my end i'm able to see the featured image. See Screenshot

Essentially this leaves me to believe that there is nothing wrong with the site per say. This screenshot is a direct comparison from the same posts on your live site. As you can see from my screenshot you can see the featured image area, ofcourse no image is included because the duplicator package excluded the site images.

Checking further I saw that your mysql version was below the minimum requirements for Toolset. You're currently running version 5.5 but Toolset requires version 5.6 as per our requirements document below.
https://toolset.com/toolset-requirements/

I also notice the javascript error below being thrown on your page.

Uncaught (in promise) TypeError: Cannot read properties of null (reading '0')
    at core-data.min.js?ver=a2bea1a5333f4e9d2ea07429a9924da0:2:38778
    at async Q (data.min.js?ver=c5f9378263e5eea9d870764c8fc1dd1b:2:16617)
    at async data.min.js?ver=c5f9378263e5eea9d870764c8fc1dd1b:2:15497

Which when traced is coming from a core wordpress file.

Based on this it leads me to believe that differences in our server configuration being the culprit for your issue.

My recommendation here is try to update to at least version 5.6 of mysql and let me know if the issue still remains.
Thanks,
Shane

Hi Shane,
I will follow your advice and open a ticket to upgrade mysql version on the server.
I will let you know as soon as I can. Thanks for your help!

Thanks

Hi Silvia,

It seems the error is no longer occurring and the featured image is showing up. I checked the debug data for your site and saw that you're currently running php version 8. It appears that your host changed it to version 8, however Toolset is not yet compatible with version 8 of PHP so you may run into other unforeseen issues.

I do know that search views don't work on version 8 of php because of a fatal error. We are still working on php 8 compatibility and we should be releasing the update in the coming weeks.

Thanks,
Shane

#2326935

Hello Shane, thank you for your help. I changed to php 8 suggested by hosting customer care. I never use PHP 8 as practically all my sites are built with the use of Toolset and I was aware about the problems. However, the use of Toolset on this website is kinda limited, I checked to see if everything worked properly... and it seems to. So for now I will keep PHP 8 waiting for Toolset to solve compatibility problems. Thanks a lot!!!!
