I have been a big fan of Toolset for years, using on many web projects.

That said I don't think Toolset is taking full advantage of what puts its product ahead of the plethora of competitors that have come along. That "killer App" is actually two components Forms and Access. The ability to build sites that content can be maintained from the front end, and keep folks out of the backend, is a powerful tool.

The problem is building front end forms and functionality is not as easy as it could and should be. Toolset forms could use a considerable amount of polish and refinement. I think this could lead to better adoption and also less support tickets.

Some suggested refinements (see image):
1. Adding tooltips to make it easier for end users to understand what they are supposed to input into a particular form element
2. An easy way to mark a form field as required
3. An easy way to mark a form field as read only
4 The ability to add user role to form conditional elements (this would make it possible to make one form serve different users)
5. A form element that allows the overriding of content publication status (a pull down) wrapped in a conditional statement users of certain roles could determine the publication status simply.
8 Some refinement to image upload fields to control image size on an element by element basis would be advantageous

One other thing that needs a fix is forms to link and unlink many to many relationships. This is a powerful feature of Toolset and should be easy to build front end access for.

I am also a long time user of Gravity Forms and if Toolset started to approach the usability and simplicity of that product I think it would make a strong argument for building front ends with Toolset.

As always I am a big fan and look forward to continued use of Toolset.

Hi there,

Thank you for the suggestions, the easier ones can be actually a good candidate such as the tooltip and overall user experience, the more complicated ones can be discussed by the dev team and a decision made if we would go on that route.

I suggest that you mention the same things in the form below so you will give direct information to the dev team and they can use the suggestions as they see fit:

Thanks.
