I am trying to display a feature image within a layout using [wpv-post-featured-image]. The feature image displays inconsistently, it appears on some posts but not others.
If I'm looking at the right place, I think that a layout has been assigned to both. Screenshots attached.
With this site there is a front-end form to allow users to submit posts. My client also adds posts via the backend.
Would it be worth me loading some test posts using each method to see if there's a difference in how they are displayed?
Or, would be it better to modify the approach and avoid WP's feature image field altogether? We could go for a "main image" field that we also use in archives, and then have the additional images in a separate repeating field.
You see, that's the thing, I didn't take any action on those posts, but they both have layouts assigned now. But I agree that the feature images are displaying correctly.
Should I proceed with loading some test posts to try and reproduce the problem again?
If you go to Toolset > Layouts then it should be clear if any of the individual posts of the type to which the Layout has been assigned are missing the assignment, because it will display a small warning in a button where you can re-assign it. See my screenshot.
So make sure that all the relevant posts are assigned correctly, and then, yes, continue making new posts and keep an eye on whether the Layout assignment fails for them, or is lost for existing posts.
It is not something that I would expect to happen without an explicit action to trigger it, so if you can remain mindful of the steps you take if and when it occurs that would be very helpful.
Let's leave this ticket open for a while to see if anything arises. (No need to reply to me until you have something specific to report.)
