I am trying to: link to page hidden link from a post on Facebook.

Link to a page where the issue can be seen: Facebook redirects to hidden link

I expected to see: the dictionaries page (= search result with kind=dictionaries), from our databases)

Instead, I got: the standard database page, without the search results.

Hi, this is unusual...if I add a different URL parameter it seems to work without any problems. For example, this works as expected: hidden link

Something about the fbclid parameter, specifically, is causing a problem. Please edit this View or WordPress Archive, take some screenshots of the configurations, and include those in your next reply.

If you have added any custom JavaScript code for these search filters, please temporarily disable that code as well as any custom PHP code you have added to the site. Then temporarily deactivate all plugins except Types and Views and activate the parent Divi theme. If you need to activate a Maintenance Mode plugin during testing, that's fine.

Test again. If the problem is resolved, reactivate your child theme, then other plugins, one by one, until the problem returns. If the problem is not resolved, there could be a system in place on your server to prevent this type of tracking with FBCLID. Some people use an htaccess redirect like this: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/52847475/what-is-fbclid-the-new-facebook-parameter

If your site uses one, perhaps it should be adjusted somehow? Let me know what you find out from these tests and we can go from there.

Hi Christian,

thank you for looking into this.
Now when I click on the link provided (hidden link), the link works as expected.
Have you clicked this link to see it didn't work? Can you click on it again to verify it works now?

The odd think is: We haven't changed anything.

Checked again with a new link on Facebook and fbclid breaks the search result again.

confused now...
regards,
Ivo

Have you clicked this link to see it didn't work?
Yes, when I clicked it yesterday it behaved like you described - the "dictionaries" option was not selected in the filter. Instead, "Database type" was selected.

Can you click on it again to verify it works now?
Hmm, no, it's still behaving as it was yesterday for me. Screenshot attached.

So, it seems I have a cached page, as the link works fine for me. But I tested it with colleagues and the problem persisted.

I have added a screenshot of settings.

Other reasons we could be seeing different things:
- Current Facebook login status in browser
- Website wp-admin login status
- Browser extensions

I never received information about the troubleshooting steps I mentioned before: https://toolset.com/forums/topic/facebook-add-fbclid-parameter-and-breaks-the-search-result/#post-1338089

Can you run those tests for me? Let me know what you find out and we can go from there.
