i have a custom post type by the name of INSTITUTION and then I have another one named CONTACTS ... INSTITUTION and CONTACTS have a one to many post relationship.

I exported the INSTITUTION just fine and imported them to my new website, I exported CONTACTS but there is no way to connect them to INSTITUTIONs when i import them. The CONTACTS export does have the post ID however, importing INSTITUTION into a new WP install gives it a new post ID so that wont work.

How can I match up the post relationships. I DID READ your tutorial on this, and in the tutorial it says that the parent slug is exported i guess, which is not the case with my export.

i read the following .. along with some others.

any help is appreciated.
thanks

Hi Jen,

Thank you for getting in touch.

Could you let me know how you are doing the exports?

Are you using our Types export to do the exports of the CPT structure ?

Thanks,
Shane

I am using wp all import ( export ) to export the data to csv/xml ... then wp all import to import to the new wordpress install.

see image (these are the contacts that belong to the institutions )

as i said before ... there is no way for me to map the contacts to the institutions

Hi Jen,

Was the relationship mapping already creating Types on the new site ?

If this wasn't already setup then this could be why you are experiencing this issue.

Thanks,
Shane

the relationships are the same. but the post IDs change when i import to the new WP install.

in your documentation it says i can map the relationships by the post slug. so since my main cpt is institution ... and my many cpt would be contacts i would need the institution slug to map it to the contacts... but its not an option to include that when i export.

the types settings are identical on both sites

Hi Jen,

I see what you mean now.

The best place to get assistance with this is with the WP All Imports team.

Secondly I check on our documentation and it seems you will need to have WP All Import – Toolset Types Add-On plugin in order to maintain the relationships when importing the file.

If this plugin is not already installed I would recommend doing so.
Thanks,
Shane
