Tell us what you are trying to do?

Display custom field link & hide if blank

What is the link to your site?

hidden link

Hi, I had this working but must have changed something and now it's not.

In the first screenshot it shows where I enter info for custom post type 'books'.
Screenshot 2 is the page I've built for the custom post type. I have set up each button to correspond to the link entered in the first screenshot.

My first issue is that those links aren't working/showing on the front end and I'm not sure why.

Secondly, I have a condition set to hide a button if there is no link to that book version. This isn't working either.

Can you take a look and tell me how I can fix this?

Thank you!

Hi there,

Would you please click the top left hamburger menu to see a hierarchical view of the blocks that you use, and move the buttons outside of the conditions temporarily?

We need to first check and see why the dynamic URL that you added is not working. So by moving the buttons outside the condition check and see if you can find the buttons on the front end of the website.

One other thing that I see is that the link you shared shows everything generated by Elementor and not the Toolset blocks. So please check and for example add something on the page that you took the screenshot, for example, a simple text, and see if it shows on the front end.

I feel like the page that you want to change is not what you expect to see in the front end and the front end is generated somewhere else.

Thanks.

Hi - ok yes that was totally it. I had changed the custom post type template but I hadn't assigned it to that post type correctly.

The buttons are working as they should now in the block editor.

If I decide to use Elementor instead of the block editor, I can't figure out how to do the conditional view. The condition being if there is a link entered the button shows, if no link entered no button shows. Can you tell me how to approach that?

Thanks!

Hi there,

Unfortunately, that is not what we can suggest as it will be an Elementor-specific question.

We suggest that you keep working with the block editor so you will be able to have access to Toolset blocks for such cases.

Here is all you can do if you decide to use the Elementor template instead of Toolset:

Thanks.
