Subject: Difficulty Implementing Many-to-Many Relationship Forms for Custom Post Types
Dear Support Team,
I'm encountering challenges while trying to create front-end forms that allow users to establish connections between two custom post types, "Design Firm" and "Interior Designers," which have a many-to-many relationship.
Objective:
Allow designers to select their associated design firm via a lookup field during the form submission process.
Enable this lookup field to be accessible in both "Design Firm" and "Interior Designer" edit forms for future updates.
Based on the documentation and information i have received so far, i do not need to add the lookup field to the custom fields of these two cpt's since I have created a many to many relationship. The issue is then how can i allow my users to select the approriate connections during the onboarding process?
Currently Trying:
Despite creating a relationship form and placing it on the same page as the "Designer" form, the form incorrectly populates the name of the "Designer" or "Firm" with the current page title. This happens regardless, and even after i created a custom view showing the designer posts of the current logged in users and placing the relationship form inside of that view. of whether I filter the view to only show posts by the logged-in user. Basically i have tried placing that relationship form in multiple places with the same results. Always populating the current page title as the current designer or vice versa if i try it with having the current firm select the designer.
Additional Requirements:
It would be ideal to simply be able to add a lookup field to the form rather than creating a separte relationship form, especially considering i have two other many to many relationships for the designer.
Could you please guide me on how to correctly implement this? A video tutorial would be incredibly helpful. I've read most of the documentation and watched all available videos but haven't found a solution to this specific issue.
Thank you for your assistance. I look forward to your prompt response.
Update I was able to recreate the page, this time when i create a view with the desginger information after the for mis filled out it populates with the title of the designer post correctly. It would be great if I could automatically populate both the designer and the firm after both are forms are filled out. Is this possible? It coule even be a hidden function since I dont really need them to see it.
Hello. Thank you for contacting the Toolset support.
Can you please tell me on what page/post you want to see both designer and firm pre-populated - you can share problem URL for the same.
*** Please make a FULL BACKUP of your database and website.***
I would also eventually need to request temporary access (WP-Admin and FTP) to your site. Preferably to a test site where the problem has been replicated if possible in order to be of better help and check if some configurations might need to be changed.
I have set the next reply to private which means only you and I have access to it.
