Hi,

I'm getting a critical error when trying to edit pages when toolset is activated along with yoast. The front end works but not the backend.

I've tried to rollback yoast to older versions without success.

I've also deactivated all other plugins and themes in order to identify the conflict with these 2 plugins...

Hi Megan,

Thank you for getting in touch.

I noticed from your debug data that you're running php version 8. Unfortunately our toolset plugins aren't compatible with php 8 as yet so I would recommend downgrading to php version 7 as this might be the cause of the issue.

If the problem still occurs then I recommend following the steps below.
What we recommend doing here is to enable the wordpress debugging functions to understand the error being thrown.

To enable the wordpress debugging you will either need to log into your website using FTP or using your Host's CPanel's file manager.

From there you will need to edit the wp-config file by adding the following.

// Enable WP_DEBUG mode
define( 'WP_DEBUG', true );

// Enable Debug logging to the /wp-content/debug.log file
define( 'WP_DEBUG_LOG', true );

If the define( 'WP_DEBUG', true ); function already exists you will need to change 'false' to 'true'

Once you've done this please revisit the page with the issue and let me know what the issue is.

Hi Shane,

Thanks very much for the update. I've actually tested switching between PHP versions before without any success, currently the site is set back to PHP 7.4, however, in October of 2022 our hosting provider is going to automatically upgrade to PHP 8, so hopefully there will be a compatible update before then?

Hi Shane! I trust you are well.

We have updated the Yoast plugin to the latest version (v18.8). We are still experiencing the same issue.

If you want to have a look, the below website, which is a copy of the website we are experiencing issues with, has the Toolset and Yoast (v18.8) plugin activated and allows us to edit the pages:

I had to upload a fresh copy of our Types plugin as there might have been an issue when you original uploaded the plugin to this site.

Hi there. The toolset plugin was de-activated, that was why we could edit the pages. as soon as we activated it again, we got the same warning message.
