[Resolved] Creating a view in Elementor – Toolset Blocks + Elementor Pro

This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:

I want to use Toolset to create a list of posts with filters on a site built with Elementor Pro. Since Toolset Views is a legacy version, I’m unsure how to create a View with Toolset Blocks and integrate it into Elementor.

Solution:

Toolset Blocks content cannot be used directly within Elementor, but you can still create Views using the legacy mode in Toolset Blocks. Enable legacy Views by following these steps:

- Go to "Toolset > Settings > General".
- Under "Editing experience", check "Show both the legacy and Blocks interface and let me choose which to use for each item I build".
- Reload the page, and go to "Toolset > Views" to create your view in legacy mode.

You can then add this View to Elementor using the shortcode. Toolset currently has no plans to remove the legacy Views functionality, so it remains a reliable option.

Hi,

I know that the Toolset Views plugin is a legacy version and is now replaced by Toolset Blocks.

We are using Elementor Pro to build the site and would like to use toolset to create list of posts with filters. Does the 'Toolset Blocks' plugin work with Elementor Pro?

From this online documentation:
https://toolset.com/course-lesson/using-toolset-with-elementor-page-builder/

it says to use Elementor with Toolset, you must install:
-Toolset Types
-Toolset Blocks

From the same documentation, under the 'Creating Custom Lists of Posts' section, was the view created with 'Toolset Blocks' plugin and then it was added to the Elementor page (using the View widget)?

I under how to create a view using the Toolset Views plugin (the legacy version), but I don't know where and how do we create a View using the 'Toolset Blocks' plugin if we are adding that view to a Elementor page?

Thanks!

Hi,

It is not possible to use the content created in Block Editor in Elementor. No matter it is Toolset blocks or any other plugin blocks.

Bur you can still use the Toolset views utilizing the legacy mode with Toolset Blocks plugin.

Please do as follows:

- Go to "Toolset > Settings > General".
- Find the "Editing experience" section.
- Check the "Show both the legacy and Blocks interface and let me choose which to use for each item I build" checkbox.
- Reload the browser page.
- Go to the newly added "Toolset > Views" menu.
- There you will be able to edit the views.

For more information:
https://toolset.com/course-lesson/enabling-legacy-version-of-toolset-views/

After that you can add the view using the legacy mode and load the view as a shortcode in Elementor.

There is a good documentation for that here:

https://toolset.com/course-lesson/using-toolset-with-elementor-page-builder/

Thanks.

Thank you Christopher! I have enabled the "Show both the legacy and Blocks interface and let me choose which to use for each item I build" checkbox. Since Toolset Views is a legacy version, will Toolset remove this in the future?
If so, what alternatives should we use since some of the functionalities and features in Views are not supported in the Toolset Blocks plugin?

Hi,

The name of the feature is legacy but there is no plans to ditch that functionality as it is still widely used in Toolset ecosystem.

Thanks.
