I tried searching on the blog but was not able to find any proper reference .

as current method i used was not working in the search module.

I have changed search criteria to
search on bases of sub category selection
i want to show
3 search options ( house size, plot width , price) these are defined ass categories in the specifc post type home and land packages.

I am trying to find away to show results of the bases of these manual defined categories.

can you please help me how to generate filters as well as view for this ?
prompt response is appreciated
thanks in advance,

According your title you want a Custom Search on categories, and according your post this seems confirmed, that you have a Post Type, and that post type is connected to the native WordPress Taxonomy "Category".

You want a View, that let's the user search thru the posts by selecting single Terms of that Taxonomy (Category).

If so, please set up a View, choose to Query the Post type, and add a Search (/and Pagination) Filter for the WordPress Native Category.
This is done by Clicking the "New Filter" button and choosing the desired settings, then insert that.
Don't forget a submit button if you plan to not use AJAX updates on this View search.

After you complete the loop and insert this View to a page your visitors are able to filter the View by those Terms.

I am trying to help you and understand you.
I politely try to assume where I cannot understand at first glimpse and ask clarification or invite to clarify.

I elaborated exactly as much I can with the details I have.

If you cannot work with this, neither can I, I am sorry to say, that I will not endure any personal complaints or accept insults.
I am here to help you with the Toolset.

I will help you with all the details required - just have a look at my support threads and how I proceed you will even see how successful I am with.
I however need to have specific details if you need specific help, and you gave me details that are specific to you, not to me, as it seems, and they are pretty generic (A (maybe custom) post search by category terms, as I understand it.)

According your description you use categories (categories are a Native, WordPress Taxonomy) and want a filter by them for your post type.
This is done as said previously and enlarged:
- set up a View,
- choose to Query the Post type,
- and add a Search (/and Pagination) Filter for the WordPress Native Category.

===> This is done by Clicking the "New Filter" button and choosing the desired settings, then insert that.
===> Don't forget a submit button if you plan to not use AJAX updates on this View search.
==> After you complete the loop and insert this View to a page your visitors are able to filter the View by those Terms.

If this is not what you want to do, or cannot follow those steps as they appear different or any else, please let me know.

I as well can activate backend login data forms where you can add your login so I can see what you see, if you provide me the links to the particular sections.

So, wether or not you are happy with my support, I know what I am doing:
- I am not trying to shoot your thread to a solved state.
FYI:
I do not work in this forum officially, full time, and do not get assigned to the tickets, hence, gain no numbers at all with solving them. I do this because I can (and yes, because I need.)

I hope it is clear how we can work together successfully

Please elaborate (if necessary with links and log in or screenshot) what you try, what you want and what you see.

I can even log in and set up a dummy view for you, if you explain to me how this should be

Please let me know if you require that in the next reply.
