[Resolved] Problems linking to a post edit CRED form

This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
Linking to a CRED post edit form was not working.

Solution:
A CRED post edit form must be inserted into an unassigned Content Template (or Template Layout, if using Layouts) to set the required context for the edit form.

Then, when inserting the post edit link via the Fields and Views button, this template that hosts the form is selected.

Tell us what you are trying to do? create post edit link in Beaver Builder content template

Is there any documentation that you are following? this is the slug of the BB content template

[toolset_access role="Administrator,Downton,Purple WebMaster" operator="allow"]
[toolset-edit-post-link content_template_slug="edit-content-driving-vacancy" class="listing-edit-button"]Edit %%POST_TITLE%% [/toolset-edit-post-link] [cred_delete_post_link class='listing-trash-button cred-refresh-after-delete' text='Delete' action='trash']

Is there a similar example that we can see? no

What is the link to your site? hidden link

Link to template with edit link hidden link
Page with Edit Post Form hidden link . (slug: edit-content-driving-vacancy)

The above code doesnt work, what am I doing wrong?

Thanks

Hi Sharon

I visited the back end of your site.

Your toolset-edit-post-link shortcode is using a template "edit-content-driving-vacancy" but when I go to Toolset > Content Templates there doesn't appear to be any such content template, hence why the link is not rendering.

For links to edit forms you need to create the edit form and then insert this form into a content template, then generate the link via the Fields and Views button, specifying the content template you just created.

hidden link

This is the post content template that I want to end using the post edit form hidden link

Are you saying I have to create a content template of the post form?

Thanks for your help

Hi Sharon

This changed a few versions ago, it may be something you missed, but now to link to a CRED edit form that form must be inserted into its own Content Template, which you then specify when inserting the CRED edit link.

It's described here: https://toolset.com/documentation/user-guides/displaying-cred-editing-forms/

It is, to be honest, a little cumbersome, but was designed like this to overcome various issues that arose from the old method.
