I inherited a CPT staff section on a website I have since rebuilt. This staff section works fine in itself, but I need to expand it for the next phase of the site.

At present, all staff members are displayed on a page called 'Our people'. There is also a suite of filters on this page to enable the viewer to refine the results by category, business area, office location and also a field where you can directly enter a staff members name. When you click onto a staff member name, you can view their personal details in the following permalink structure hidden link. There is also a full list of all staff members in the left widget column to enable visitors to quickly flick through each staff member.

The website has 8 business areas and each staff member is contained in at least one of these areas. So now my client wants to have a page called 'Meet the XXXXX Team' within each business area (XXXXX = business area). I have managed to sort his using custom views for each business area.

BUT, here lies my problem. When you click onto the name of each staff member, you are once again taken to the same permalink structure as before hidden link and you ALSO have a list of all the staff members in the left widget column - rather than a short list of only the staff within this business area.

In short, I was hoping that I could have the following permalink structure - hidden link PLUS a refined list of only the relevant business area staff in the left widget column.

Is this possible?

I hope this makes sense and it's a fairly simple fix.

Thanks in advance.

Dear paul,

There isn't such a feature within Types plugin, Types plugin is using wordpress function register_post_type to create new custom pos type, you can only setup a fixed pre-pend string in the permalink structure, see our document:
https://toolset.com/documentation/user-guides/create-a-custom-post-type/
Rewrite – rewrite post types permalinks. You can use the normal WordPress URL logic (which you will have set up in Settings > Permalinks) or you can use a custom URL format. The default for this is “true” and it will use the slug you defined earlier.
And wordpress document
https://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/register_post_type
Rewrite
(boolean or array) (optional) Triggers the handling of rewrites for this post type. To prevent rewrites, set to false.
Default: true and use $post_type as slug
$args array
'slug' => string Customize the permalink structure slug. Defaults to the $post_type value. Should be translatable.

So it is not possible within Types plugin, you can also check it with our certified partners:

Issue is not resolved because it isn't possible within WP-Types.
