This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:

The issue here is that the user is getting the following error.

"Toolset plugin cannot connect to toolset.com

Toolset needs to connect to its server to check for new releases and security updates. Something in the network or security settings is preventing this. Please allow outgoing communication to toolset.com to remove this notice"

Installer Log: Response = "Site key not matching"

Solution:
Go to Dashboard -> Updates and click on Check for Updates then try going back to your plugins page to see if the Toolset is still not connecting.

"Toolset plugin cannot connect to toolset.com

Installer Log: Response = "Site key not matching"

Toolset has been unregistered.
Site deleted from Toolset account.
The site has been added afresh in Toolset with a new key generated. (Site URL has been double checked)
Toolset re-registered in WordPress
New key has been added in WordPress
Error message persist after doing the above ""Toolset plugin cannot connect to toolset.com"

WordPress - Installer system status is ticked green for : WPML API server, Toolset API server, cURL, simpleXML

When checking for updates in Plugins > Add New > Commercial - No available updates are shown even though Toolset updates have been released (As indicated in Toolset > My Sites > Toolset Types "Please update to 3.4.8")

Site is using Wordfence - Wordfence WAF is currently in Learning Mode

*Update: Temporarily disabling Wordfence has enabled me to update the Toolset plugins. But the Toolset plugin still can't connect to toolset.com with Wordfence disabled.

Thank you.

Hello,

Mainly I would do a check to see if the site can be registered using a key from my account. Usually registration issues can be one of 2 things.

Either the URL being used is incorrect and when I mean incorrect it can be a difference like this "hidden link" and "hidden link" even though both URL's are the same the formatting is different.

Secondly to see if it is a connection being blocked. From experience a user will say they have entered the correct URL in the site key box when in fact they didn't enter it correctly.

The best way to get the correct URL is by using the automatic tool. When you go to Register the site at Plugins -> Add New -> Commercial then when you click on the register site button ensure that you register it by clicking "Get a key for this site" this will automatically pass the correct URL to our site key API.

If this is what you did then I can assume that the URL is correct.

Should it be a case where the URL is verified as correct the next thing I would check is the server firewall to see if any of the connections to Toolset.com is being blocked.

I see that you have 2 sites registered with us
"hidden link"
"hidden link "

Finally is this a recent issue ?

The last thing you can do is go to Dashboard -> Updates and click on Check for Updates then try going back to your plugins page to see if the Toolset is still not connecting.

Thanks,
Shane
